Mood + Colour

As we all know, trends are evolutionary rather than revolutionary and Keepsake is the update to our previous Bravehearted mood that drew on medieval influences for inspiration. Here we move into a later historical era and look to Elizabethan influences with a modernist twist, celebrating dark forces at play. However the mood isn't all rooted in the past, there is a sense of innate theatricality which we are already seeing impacting on today music scene with artistes like Lady Gaga, who takes disparate influences and melds them into her idiosyncratic stage persona - a creative trait being recognised and celebrated by designers such as Giorgio Armani, who has been quick to forge a collaboration with the renegade singer. The Heirloom mood morphs hard into soft - think chainmail merging with sooty velvet and soft limpid silks or the contrast of crisp dimensional pleating adding a sculptural contradiction when teamed with plush furs. Silhouettes take reference from the Elizabethan era too, with an emphasis on the doublet or jerkin as a key shape and high face-framing collars inspired by Elizabethan ruffs. Craftsmanship is an important ingredient in the mix with jewellery influenced by singular antiquarian pieces, their intricate workmanship maybe something to inspire embellishment or trims for the fur trade.
Colour - Muted blue-cast steel greys and a washed black combine with the fragility of a soft dusted skin-toned neutral and a mossy green with a subtle accent of chainmail metallic for a palette full of drama and an aged appeal.
