ELEMENTAL – Mood + Colour
Elemental is a gentle move on from our Metropolis trend that was pinpointed for autumn/winter 2008. For next season we take the look one step further, drawing on the purity of line and the perfection of human form offered by classic Greek and Roman sculptures. They were of course mirrored in the mythology of ancient gods and goddesses like Zeus, Aphrodite and Apollo, along with the strength and super-human powers shown by the first Olympian sportsman. We are also inspired by the brooding landscape of Mount Olympus, whose timeless rugged terrain suggests a sense of cerebral Zen-like calm – the perfect antidote to today’s technological overload and the stress of living a frenetic life in the Noughties. The look is undeniably modern but fuses the technical aspects of performance sportswear with graceful fluidity of classicism to move on last winter’s more structured angular looks.
COLOUR | The colour level offers a contradictory mix of warm earthy tones alongside soft cloud greys and washed sky blues. Add the vivid impact of sportswear brights like electric blue and brilliant sunshine yellow for a sharp graphic impact that plays into the mood’s sporty futuristic feel.
