PLANETARY NIGHT – Mood & Colour
The past and the future collide for our second trend of the season. Here, the mood is dark and subtly subversive with a time capsule of influences as we travel back to the smoke-filled nights of 20s and 30s cabaret clubs and the decadence of Brassai’s Parisian demi-monde. The avant-garde influences of the era inspire an art-based approach to design with exaggerated proportions redefining silhouettes. Fast forward as we hitch a ride into the future to explore the fantasy world of distant galaxies where planetary forces are at work to spin fashion into a new dimension. Combine these two key influences and we have a look that can be clearly defined as retro futurism. Filter in the contradiction of sharp sci-fi vixens, think David Lynch’s 80s film classic Dune, with a result that is unexpected and surreal as we move into a world where there are no boundaries as masculine becomes feminine and femmes fatales morph into androgynous beings.
COLOUR | The palette offers a range of smoky winter darks, intense purple, deep galactic blue and teal green offset with space trooper khaki and cigarillo brown. Add a touch of greyed boudoir pink for a colour level of new and unexpected fur fashion colours.
